Where should the wipers be when they are in the park position? should it be against the little stopper on the bodywork?

It should be but I find that this can damage the wiper blade so have been setting mine to stop on the windscreen to see if that helps.

at the moment they do stop on the screen but not sure if that is on purpose or not. Does any one have any tip on improving the wipers, any alternative arms people use that are abit stronger

When the motor is at rest, the arms can be fitted to sit where you want them to be. I have never understood Rover's idea of letting the wipers run off the screen and unto the parking chrome. That requires a small wheel on the P4 under the arm, or a small "lift" at the base on some other models. Far better to just let the wiper rest on the screen and stay in one plane, in my view.

Rover liked things to be tidy like the pre-war manual lift off screen wipers on P1/P2's - the P4 had the reverse offscreen faciltiy too and with the narrow screens of Rover cars from 1930 on till the P6 came out it also gave better forward vision on few occasions when the car was used in the wet

Mine both park off the screen - the drivers lifts off the screen and onto the chrome support, and the passengers lifts off the screen and onto the chrome air intake grille. Looks neat, both are perfectly horizontal when parked and it keeps the screen completely clear of any obstructions. I also like the attention to design detail this shows.
I slightly adjusted the drivers side (by bending the arm very slightly) as previously the drivers side flapped-about at speed. It's a fine-line between stopping the flapping and making sure they aren't so firm that the chrome support permanently deforms the wiper blade.
