Does anyone on the Board know the volume of an 8.13:1 piston bowl for a 3.5 Rover V8. Please no extrapolations or guesses. If you have an old piston laying about a small graduated medicine flask (used for cough mixture, etc.) and ATF as the measuring medium will work (not water as it creates a miniscus). * Don't tell your wife/partner why you need the measuring flask. PS. I may have asked this question before?

Vince, send an email to Mark Richmond. He's bound to have some pistons lying around the workshop. Or call in and see him. He's in Moorabbin these days; not that far from you.

Hi Warwick, Thanks for that. I know Mark but I'd doubt he'd have an 8.13:1 piston which is actually from an early 70s - 80 Range Rover. Most of his stash of parts comes from a now long deceased friend of mine (RCCA) Ivan Lewis who had a massive collection of P5 parts and cars in his back yard. I also don't think Mark's forte is in precise mechanical measurements.

I was thinking more along the lines of you doing the measuring. If you like, I'll ask Anthony Johnson at British 4WD in Montrose. He'll have one lying around somewhere. Is that too far to drive if you have to do the measuring?

No it isn't Warwick. It's a pleasant ride on my bike. Just need a small container for some ATF and a medicine flask. Even an old worn out piston would be fine.
