Could some kind person let me know the number (or dimensions) of the bearing(s) in a P5B power steering pump? I have acquired a set of seals but forgot about the bearing(s). I hope to dismantle and overhaul the pump next weekend and I won't be able to get to the workshop where it is until the weekend so I can't have look beforehand.

Simon,
The bearing in the pump is 203NPP. When i overhauled my steering pump, the bearing supplier i normally use couldn't supply it but JRW can supply it.

Simon they are readily available from BEARINGThanks for that. Are they really metric dimensions? And is there 1 or 2 of them in there?

Simon they are readily available from BEARINGX ref 6203 John, i bought an overhaul kit from JRW and don't know whether a 6203 or a 203 NPP was included in the set but a 6203 is not completely identical to an 203NPP. A 203NPP is self aligning, a 6203 is not but i don't know if self aligning is needed or not. Simon, There is only 1 ball bearing in the pump. Peter

I read the specs Peter, I cant see any reason why the 6203 would give problems used where it is in the Pump! as the pump is a well made unit and I cant see anything running out of line due to the fact the shaft runs in a bush! I have a spare pump and will have a look what bearing is in it out of curiosity All the O rings and the seal are available at a "good bearing supplier" very cheaply

I liberated one of each type of bearing from the engineers stores at work today and will see which is correct at the weekend. I suspect it will be the 'normal' bearing and not the spherical case self aligning one but time will tell...
