No They nether have. You don't even concessions as an O.A.P now. You even have to pay for disabled parking.
I'm afraid it's all money money now.

When the club had a stand they used to print a code in the Take Five Magazine to enable member to obtain a discount on tickets ordered in advance.
I suspect now that we no longer have a stand that won't be the case any longer
Before anyone starts complaining about there being no P5 stand, if you are disapointed there won't be one then may I suggest you volunteer to organise one for next year's show. You'll need to book the space and persuade then organisers to let you have space right after this year's show.

Any members going to the NEC in November for the Classic Motor Show? If so, use the following code and you will get a discount CSCMS15

Who's intending on going this year??? I have obtained a discount code which is CC9732 which gives you a couple of quid off the ticket entry fee albeit the organisers get that back off you by charging you a booking fee on top of the ticket fee thus no real discount to be honest.
I have attended this show quite a few times over the years and as much as I enjoy it I still strongly feel its a big rip off with the fees they charge to get in and now also with parking too. Ive noticed it too at Bicester, new organisers changing the rules and charging more and more each year. No wonder we are called " rip off Britain ".

I have found that a return ticket by train leaving here around 06:30 and departing NEC just after 18:00 show closure gets me home by 22:00. suits me fine - a whole day out, no traffic hold ups and no parking charges. Just watch the world go by! If I don't want to pay station parking charges, a taxi each way is cheaper. Remember the charge for withdrawing cash at the NEC machines though!

In recent years there has been a multi_Rover stand which I understood from some of those manning it, the P5 declined to share?

Not so Eric More a lack of members willing to participate.

I think the lack of support from members and their cars these days David is due to the organisers rules they impose of folk attending and showing their cars. I found this out myself a few years ago with my Aston and so did others I know too who now no-longer bother.
I understand fully it takes a lot of time to set things up in there etc etc etc but we found the organisers had little or no flexibility at all imposing all sorts of rules and deadlines on you as an exhibitor which is why I am not surprised folk don't bother much.
Its all politics and I keep well out of it now.

Couldn't agree more. The Draconian attitude is not only found at the NEC, as the Bristol Classic Car Show has followed the same path, resulting in falling numbers of display cars and paying public. if you alienate those willing to display their cars, spending their time and money, then eventually there would be no show IMHO.

Absolutely right David. No owners and their cars eventually means no show and its slowly heading that way sadly albeit the organisers each year will still impose more stupid rules and add more to the costs of going there. Its just a massive rip off IMHOP which is why we only really go every 2 years now. Im on a pension now so need to make those pennies count. LOL.
The worse thing ive noticed and heard of too is poor folks cars either being damaged or had bits stolen off them whilst on show which is an absolute disgrace in my book. People banging their bags and prams into the cars as they walk past them or letting their zips catch on the cars as they look inside them. No respect these days anymore and another reason why folk wont commit to showing their pride and joys there. Then there are those who think its ok to just open your car and get in it without asking messing with switches etc.
The organisers will always put their caveat in place though to protect them, " owners must ensure you have the relevant insurance in place to cover you against being sued or having your car damaged " as they wont accept any responsibility.

I think David was referring to lack of members willing to participate although quite separately I agree that Show organisers are becoming too dictatorial and even this is is reflected by insurers, H&S and others. This is found even in local shows and many of them are cancelling altogether.

Also, the cost to visit is getting out of hand and is a factor. It would be interesting to know how many members actually attend. For example, if I decide to visit, with my wife, on a Saturday, or Sunday, I will have to part with £78.

We both plan to go this year David as its also a great time to centrally meet up with other like minded friends who we probably would not get the chance to see as often as we would like so the cost to do this is worth it for that reason and also we get to see some nice cars too. One thing ive stopped doing is paying the rip off fee to be able to enter the Silverstone auction pen to look over the cars for sale. 2 years ago I think it was £20 for the program which got you past the white picket fencing. Stuff that.
I think with the saving code CC9732 and disabled parking fee of £12 it comes to about £65 all in excluding fuel costs to get there and back which in our car will be about £25. We take a daysack with us with drink and some food inside as we aint paying the OTT prices and the que.
I would have loved to have put my P5B on display and my Aston Martin too but the risks are just too high for me these days.

I managed to fit in the Sunday, I got there at 9.30 & was all done by 15.30, normally they nearly have to throw me out & I still don’t quite see everything.
I don’t know what you thought Brendan but it seemed smaller than usual, not in the amount of space taken up but there just wasn’t as much to see I don’t think, mind you I didn’t waste long in the auto jumble this time as it’s getting more & more trade stalls selling shiny spanners made from Brie & magic potions for various applications & the few stalls I am interested in ie the old petrol pumps & signage etc. are getting massively over priced
