The Scottish All Rover Rally Committee met in August to review the 2015 Rally held at Thirlestane Castle and consider whether or not it would be possible to organise a Rally in 2016 given that the Committee has not been at full complement for several years. Furthermore, both our Chairman and Treasurer had previously indicated they wished to step down from their roles after the 2015 rally.
The Committee considered that the static display on the Sunday of the 2015 rally was successful, with a good turnout of 89 vehicles and favourable weather. However, the Saturday Road Run was a disappointment, with only 12 vehicles out of 18 registered for the event turning up on the day. The Saturday evening meal was also less successful with 23 diners compared with an average of 35 diners on previous occasions.
The outcomes of the meeting were that the Chairman and Treasurer agreed to continue in post for one more year only in an 'acting' capacity, and that the Committee should proceed to organise a Rally limited to a static display on Sunday 29 May 2016, again at Thirlestane Castle. This means there will be no Road Run or Rally Dinner on the Saturday. In the absence of volunteers to join and reinforce the Committee for the future the 2016 event is likely to be the final Scottish All Rover Rally in its current form.
Full details of the 2016 Rally and an application form will be posted on the rally website in early 2016.

That's sad news Trevor as its an event we have enjoyed for more than 10 years now.
Sadly it seems that there are fewer people willing or able to give up their time to organise such events and it seems likely these events will die out as time goes by.
Our thanks to all of the committee and helpers who have made the SARR such an enjoyable event in the past.
