Hello I think this is the correct section, Anyway my dads had two p5bs his old one from when he was about 20, he had it restored back then around 1990 it was a zircon blue saloon with a webasto sunroof, the reg was CYX655H I've had a look at the dvla details and the car was still being used and had mot which expired in 2014, so it looked like there was still hope, but after trying to find it online I couldn't find any pictures of it. He's looking to contact the dvla as they have a form you can fill out to request information about a driver or vehicle, has anyone tried this before and had any luck ? Also his other one he sold in about 2008/9 I think and from Memory it was two tone with blue and grey/brown colour on top, he's going to try and find the sale receipt from it today as he took the plate off and can't remember what went on it Thanks Dan

I'm afraid you are not eligible to obtain the current owner's details, nor the history. The current details are only available if you have a legal reason for tracing the owner e.g. an accident involving the vehicle , and the history is only available to the present owner upon payment of the fee which I think at present is £5

Well I rung the number today and it has now gone to a golf club I asked anyway as the man was interested but he said it was nothing to do with him, so now have come to a standstill. Not sure if there is anything else that can be done now Thanks for helping me

try and get a pre 2013 phone directory for the area.
You may find the address which you can write to.

Update, I never managed to find a phone directory for the location but after doing a vehicle enquiry check again it has gone from saying tax expired in 2014 to sorn. So I guess someone still has it and finally declared it as sorn so it's still out there somewhere? That's what I think it means anyway if someone else can confirm that thanks

Agreed, if the record is now different to that which you saw initially, that would indicate that somebody has bothered to update it to declare SORN.
I note your original post says MOT expired in 2014 (not tax) but DVLA shows 2011.
It's likely that the car is still around and the difficulty is that SORN now doesn't have to be renewed annually so, no doubt, eventually there wll be records of cars shown as SORN when, in reality, they disappeared. However, as the change was relatively recent the chances are it's still around. Somewhere!

Ah yes just realised that, my mistake it was originally it said the mot expired in 2011 but then the car was still saying taxed in 2014 and yes hopefully it's still around somewhere I guess I'll just keep checking eBay and other sites. Thanks
