Hi Down Under folk.
I have a pair of seats out of my AU XR8 sitting in my garage, has anyone ever fitted anything similar to a P5?
Cant see it being brain surgery if the rails are similar.

Why not look for something that looks right and is in context/harmony with the interior and style of the car. Yes you can fit the Ford seats and it's your car and choice, but take a look at the following link first. Alternate SeatsHere's a direct quote from the owner who fitted the seats to a ZA Magnette. Ah yes, the seats. The original seats were in a very bad way and would have cost in excess of £2000 to repair and recover. So I set about looking for a leather seat that would look right in the car. I settled on the Rover 45 seat because they were inexpensive (£100 + £50 courier) and available in cream leather. The Rover 45 is based on a Honda Civic but Rover made a saloon (sedan) version that was never available from Honda. The Connoisseur model (sedan only) was top of the range and featured these seats. When the Rover 45 was launched they went a bit retro and (like the Rover 75) fitted seats based on the old Rover P6 design. Rover 45 front seats fitted to a Triumph Dolomite

Hi Vince
Certainly an alternative, I'd love to put full P5B seats in front and rear.
The AU seats would only be a temporary measure until I either find a P5 interior or get mine redone.
Their sitting under a tarp in the garage since I fitted a leather interior in the XR8.
I don't know if a Rover 75 interior would fit.

The Magnette is a smaller car with obviously less interior space so the seats in the link that I posted would fit in with ease. They're also leather and trimmed virtually the same as those in a P5B.
FYI. Some differences. My car is a MK3 P5 coupe (the last of the 6 cyl P5s). The interiors are virtually identical to the P5B with a few exceptions. The auto gear selector is attached to the column not in a centre console. The front and rear seats are virtually identical with the exception that the front P5B seats had a narrower backrest...perhaps 1.5", it's quite noticeable. Both use the same front suspension setups including top & bottom ball joints. Both have BW35 gearboxes but the MK3 also runs a rear pump. Both have the same rear axle including identical gearing (3.5:1 ratio).

... A Rover 45 comes up as a mower in OZ ... That's a walk-behind reel mower, Oz. No seats. I'd look for a ride-on if I were you, but you will need 4 mowers. Look for some good second-hand Rover 382/30s.

I was looking at Jag seats last night.
Going out to Mark Richmond's in Ballarat tomorrow, I'll have a good look at whether later P5 or P5B seats will fit into my Mk1.
