Hello guys. I own a Rover P5B and trying to get it ready for the MOT (Dutch). Problems arise with the wiper motor. If I connect it with the loom (corresponding colors) it does'nt function. I don't know whether it is broken or not. So I want to test it on the workbench. Problem is that I don't know which of the cables should at least be connected Can anyone give some advice like what color should be connected to +12V and earth. I add 1 picture. There have beem some threads on the subject, but they did not help also because the added pictures are not shown. Thanks for an answer, Regards, Karl Rigter Attachment Deleted

Hi Karl.
Try stripping the wiring protection back a little bit further, this will reveal the true colour of the original wires ( the exposed parts that are out past the cable sleeve can be hard to make out due to ageing and dirt ). I had trouble with mine after I removed it for overhaul, I had the wiring wrong due to mistaking the colours, the wires inside the motor were like new and I found my mistake then. I don't have a manual to hand, but a good workshop manual is a must for these cars if you don't have one. ( they are available from the club I think ) I am sure there is a fair bit on the forum regarding this issue with pictures.
Very nice job you are doing on your car, would love to see more.

Ok. thanks for all the help provided. as a workaround I used a wiperunit from an MGB. Now I will make a testbed on the workbench to find out the problem with the motor. Maybe it it has broken (burnt) wires or something like that. I know now what the colors are and I have a good scheme provided by the club.
