Hi all,
At some point between Thursday 31st August and this morning 2nd Sept my White 1972 Rover P5b Coupe has been stolen on Croma Villas St in Putney, London SW18.
License plate AUN858L.
Everything pretty standard and was in good nick, new MOT'd. Had a slight crease in the bonnet on the left hand side.
If you could keep an eye out that would be great. My contact details are 07 544 159591 and john.d.deely@gmail.com
thanks
John Deely

Not good news.
I remember seeing that one for sale recently.
Eyes duly peeled.

Sincere regrets! Here's hoping the b***ers that did it get caught, and the car comes back in undamaged condition.

I'll keep both eyes open for it (just down the road in New Malden).

Allow me to suggest...All east bound ports must be alerted, your Rover was not stolen by a tourist but by professional thieves who are also good connoisseurs of valuable Veteran vehicles. Don't let the Police "push u off", demand All Ports & Channel-Tunnel are on the look-out. Best of luck my friend.

Will put this car photo on the ex-USSR classic car community. But I really dont think it will resurface there - too small community, too rare car in terms of our classic car market.
Check EBAY for full set of Rostyles and other spares.

Sorry to hear about.
Hopefully the police and P5 lovers everywhere can aid in retrieving your beloved motor from those b;##ers.
At least it stands out from modern motors. Best of luck.

B*stards! Hopefully it was just joyriders and the car will quickly be found but at least the P5 community has been alerted and mutliple pairs of eyes are now looking out for it.
Some years ago Alexei Sayle's black P5B coupe was stolen from a lock up garage. It did eventually resurface and was returned to him .. by which point he'd moved onto more modern Rovers.

What goes on at Wimbledon race track these days? Just a thought. I heard horror stories of cars turning up at Ringwood too. The values of Coupe's suggests that theft to order is also a possibility.

I will be putting a concealed tracking on my Rover..Plus a "Baseball Bat". I don't give a flying Toss They touch my car I will happily whack them. Horrible degenerates.

Very sad indeed, you cannot leave any thing on the street in London as some low life will have it. A friend of my nephew left his bike in a bay and it was stolen. They used a battery powered angle grinder to cut the extra lock off it.

Can anyone recommend a good security or immobiliser device to fit our older vehicles please?

Hi Steed I had a Trackstar Protector 2 TQA352 – Cat 6 fitted to my P5B the first week I purchased it back in 2014, can’t recall the exact amount how much the local approved local installer charged to fit it but I think it was a couple of hundred. The current subscription is £399:00 including VAT for three years may seem to be expensive but as we all treasure our cars I think it’s worth it for peace of mind. Last year I was working on the car as the horn wasn’t working, not being my strong point I somehow managed to blow the main fuse. Within minutes my mobile went & a representative from Eurowatchentral was asking if I was with the vehicle & what was going on. Also as I have a garage a short distance from home I can log in & locate the vehicle. As I say, quite expensive but does help with the insurance as they can see that they are insuring a vehicle that the owner is serious in “keeping it as safe as possible” Regards Porky

No particular experience but my Heritage insurance broker was offering a free box fitted to client's car/s a year or so ago. The link page isn't open now but I have just asked Skytag if discounts are offered to club members. skytag-gps.co.uk/index.phpI will pass on any response for club or individual information.

The sad thing is they also have the audacity to use a flat bed lorry and actually lift the car onto it. Another good reason for a tracking device.

Thanks Pete, brilliant idea! The Battery switched fused breakers are available on line Mine is RC (radio controlled) with a fob with knobs and these you will not find this online. I did a lot of searching and had to get it from the USA (Summit Racing. It avoids that you have to open the boot everytime to switch the power off. Also handy when you work on the electrical system Peter
