Just to put these pics in to perspective, this is the suburbs of Melbourne, not a bush or country area.
They've charged a 15 year old girl for deliberately lighting it.....

What on earth makes someone who lives there light a fire deliberately?! I know kids don't really think about consequences but at 15 she is basically adult enough to make her own decisions on right or wrong. Luckily they found her so she has chance to answer for what she has done and hopefully learn from it. Us brits joke about living in the sun but over 40C daily temperatures is no joke and we would soon get fed up with it. I'd hate to have the additional worry of some dimwit kid (or adult) deciding to set fire to undergrowth near my house and destroying my life and/or my family! (or worse still the Rover eeeeek!) On the southern Riviera of Britain we are at zero C currently and looking forward to you chaps down under handing back some of that sunshine Best of luck down there...

The temperature in Victoria can be very variable Roy. It can almost seem like 4 seasons in one day. Lately the days have been quite warm, in the high 20s with clear skies...then showers at night. Today it was 22C a beautiful day...had most of the family over for lunch and the grandkids swam in our pool. Next week high temperatures in the extreme are predicted once again. Generally though, Melbourne and its environs are a great place to live with generally year round moderate temperatures in the early to mid teens. Only in winter do they go below 10C. We are right down south on this large island (excluding Tassie ) it's up North...where people go troppo!

No Richard...I definitely don't know the melting point of the contrasonics , but I do know that my coupe is still running the original set. One thing I do know though, was that the sun and heat (in Sydney NSW), where my car was registered during its early life destroyed the original leather upholstery.
