Just got a new set of carpets delivered from Wadhams. Looks nice so far, but I am confused over the gearbox console. Apparently there are two types as seen below from the internet. One with a top side buckskin trim and one without. Mine has this trim, but the drawing in the original parts catalog hasn't. Neither was the trim included in the set. Was this an option back then? Would it be wrong if I don't replace this trim? The old skin could be delicate to recover. Thanks, Jens.

It is strange - indeed. Actually, one of the images, I have come across, is of the Queens P5B and it doesn't have the top trim either. I learn something new about these cars everyday! The only trim I have ever seen is as per the 2nd image and I'm pretty sure that no P5B ever left the factory as per image one unless it was trimmed to order. My own guess would be it's an aftermarket job but it looks quite nice

Hi, I have looked at your photos online. My P5B hass the second one. I would like to know precisely how the parts are fitted from the first felt carpet to the iron plates then to the final carpet. Mainly, how the final carpet is held. There is a view on the parts manual, but there is now explanation nor opened view about this.
Many thanks for your help.

The carpet is glued with contact adhesive on the top metal frame and stapled on the remaining millboard.

If you order these carpets from wadhams, there will be a seam in the middle of the front carpet which makes it more difficult too fit and does not look very nice. On Velvets pictures this seam is not there as he made it out of one piece which looks much better

Mine is like the second one. The carpet is not really held in. The side by the door goes under the sill trim and then there are two grey clips under the front of the seat that go over the carpet.

Thanks for the info and photo. I finally succeeded. I mean most important is to mark the shape of the so to say wooden sides - a particular sort of wooden plate like medium - on the back side of the carpet. I used staples while mounting, but after, I withdrew the staples and glued. I did not like to staple from outside through the carpet on the lowest sides, as I mean the lowest part of the carpet of the console has to come out on the floor under the side carpet.
I have now another issue with the electric wires. I don't remember how the double red and white wires and the double black and the simple red green have to be connected on the black pull switch with three connections : one double and one single.
Moreover this black button has a hole in the middle like for a lamp but I mean some of its parts are lost as the hole has no cover. I have read on the forum it wad the rear window heater, but I did not remark wires in my one, would the heater be a hose cominf from the heater and a fan ?
Thanks once again for information.
