I am looking for advice on where I could obtain Silver Birch car paint? Or where/who is able to make the paint colour up ? Is there a similar easily available modern colour? The car is to be resprayed inside and out approx 6ltrs required ,according to the sprayer. Has anyone in the club done this, any advice greatly received. What colour should the coach line be?

Any reputable local car paint factor will mix this up in either cellulose or two pack. Some members have it it mixed up by Halfords in an aeorsol. 6 litres seems on the low side?
Try Yellow Pages - were are you based.

What colour is your car? Depending on it's body colour that would be the colour for the roof stripe if you had a silver birch roof. If you have a silver birch roof that would be the colour for the coachlines on the body. If that sounds confusing I can send you some photo's. grroverp5bcoupe@aol.com

Silver Birch is available from any paint suppliers one or two on Ebay just type in 2K and search then email and ask for a different colour Silver Birch! Burnt Grey is the stripe colour if its a Coupe that would be the roof colour if you two tone, 6 liters of paint would give you approx 9.5 ltrs with the activator and thinners which should be enough to do the job 3 ltrs of primer should do. Good Luck

If you consider comparing the price: paints4you.com mix 400ml aerosols for 10,99 (plus postage). Bought Silver Birch from them - matches perfectly.

Sorry - I had forgotten: If the roof stripe on the Silver Birch roof of your car is black - it is probably a thin plastic deco-tape that can easily be stripped off. In that case the body line is most likely to be a white plastic deco-tape. That would hint on an earlier respray with low economics - which was the case with my P5B when I bought her.

If you ring Gus Ellis (number inside mag cover) he will give you the ICI paint codes which any paint factor can mix. If your car is a saloon the coachline is satin(almost matt) black, for coupe as written by my learned colleagues above, two-tone opposite colours, single colour- black

If you want to see a Silver Birch car go to 'Pictures of members cars' touring in Scotland. If your car is a saloon there will be no line on the roof, only a coach line below the stainless trim. If it is a coupe the roof may be a different colour, probably Burnt Grey. On a Silver Birch car the coachline will be Burnt Grey, if the roof is Burnt Grey the line on the roof will be Silver Birch.
