Hi John, See pic for the carpets in my Admiralty Blue P5B Saloon. When trying to find a matching carpet sample for the mats myself and Barry (PriceyP5) went through tons of samples. He may be the best person to ask? Good luck!! Steve

Hi Steve thanks for the pic already had a word with Barry I am split between 2 colours as the book says Tan and Tan is a shade of Cream confused.com yours look great and well made but lean towards a greenish brown I would say the carpet on the tunnel is not the origonal ( if I am wrong sorry )looks nice though

Hi John,
They are Wadhams wool carpets - replaced last year, they do look green in the pic, you're right (but they aren't! ;D)
On reflection I realise this probably doesn't help much!!
Steve.

It's the thought that counts Steve thanks If they are JRW carpets they will be Mortlake Brown

This has been covered before - if there was any standard it was the Silver Grey with Silver Birch main colour but Mortlake Brown /Saddle tan/ with the Blue colour scheme but new buyers could choose waht they wanted.
Either colour is rather dull. The 3 lires had the better quality and range of colours

Hi john I have seen Mortlake Brown I wouldn't call it Tan in the book both colours were an option if they were both Tan the part nunbers would be the same if that make sence. Phil are you saying Sadle Tan is the same as Mortlake Brown?? if not how much lighter was the Sadle Tan??

Doesn't look like this is helping much The sample i matched with Steve's car was fine and have made other mats since, but saying that others i have done said the colour match i had is to light The problem is trying to match a sample to an original bit of material as some may have had carpets changed over the years. I am going to look into this more tomorrow at work and see if i can get any more answers

I have the same feeling but am also in the same boat. I have a set of mats to sort out for RichardF and Andy (sorry for the delay guys, i haven't forgotten you) but want to sort the colour out which is right. I have a sample which David Green sent me which i am trying to match so with the link you have put up John this may help narrow it down

I am taking this route as the furtex door strips are a very light beige on my car (as are the map pockets, kick panels), I have therefore gone for a colour to match the carpet or near as d**n it.

Thats probably the route I will take Dave and Glenn as who knows what the origonal shade was like

That's a can of worms in respect of carpet quality and how well they fit and are made I have seen two sets made by two well known suppliers that why I am making my own best to have a look and make your own mind up

I suppose you would make your own! - did you know that Rover used several shades of what they call Mortlake brown. Some are browner than others - most of my P5B's have had this colour and I really think its awful!
They do not even fit very well compared to the fit on my 3 litre especially in the back over the tunnel.
The bought in reproduction ones do vary a great deal as to colour and more importantly quality. If I was going to buy new ones I would change to a more exiting colour anyway.
The saloon I have got have got now had a nicely made front set in - the colour is definitely "wrong" but brighter and its got PVC binding instead of coach lace. The console was done to match and this too is well done as I have seen some where the carpet is far too thick making the whole lot look bulky. I do not know who the supplier was which was surprising as there was a lot of history with this particular car. Ray Weekly used to make very good ones but I understand he has closed down entirely - or his son has.

I agree Phil Mortlake Brown is drab I will probably go for a Cream to match the Map Pockets etc I have an origonal set of Gingery Browny Coconut coloured carpets with holes to use as patterns. Exciting colour Phil I shudder to think

I have tooood and froooed on colour so I left it to my dear wife who is gifted at colour matching I liked Cream but when you put all the colours together it didn't look right so for my interior I have gone for Dark Beige www.woolies-trim.co.uk/pc-1372-307-long-pile-carpet.aspx it blends in fine with every thing else but its your personal choice you have to live with it

I purchased Wilton wool carpet from Heritage Trim and Upholstry for my Pine Green 1966 P5 3-litre coupe. It's "suede green" and I bought their matching PVC binding to sew myself. The color appears to be a perfect match for the paint and leather seat color. I think it will look very nice when all finished. Very satisfied , except for the price ($60 US per sq. yd).

Ken, if it's 'Wilton' and it's all wool, then it will be expensive. It is the best available and will last a long time. Then again for a class car why not get the best.

Too true. I agree about the quality of the car, so I wrote the check! Ken
