Thanks Phil. What I know as 'fitted bolts'. Looks like a call to David.

I seem to recall that JRW was having new rear bushs made and when I check his website, it show as having 54 (I think) in stock. Are these the new production ones and are they better than what was offered before? My car still has the original bushs installed (from 1965!) and even though the car has been on blocks (under the axle) for 23 years, I've been thinking about getting a pair to have in case the mounted ones do go bad.

Took my P5B for annual M.O.T this morning. As always she passed 100% with no advisories. Even though she is exempt i still take her for test each year. Its always safer to have a second set of eyes look over the car too.

I just bought a pair and on enquiry was told that they are indeed the new 'improved' ones.

I was told a similar story by JRW recently.
Hope they are 'bomb proof'!!

Thanks for update on the bushes! Around the end of the month (Sept) I'll send off for a pair.

After 3 years at the panel shop, the old boy is finally out and safely ensconced in his new home. Now to get the ‘screens fitted...

Well I’m sulking😕 After spending 4 million pounds on suspension bits, removing the bark from my knuckles & banging my head on all the sharp bits, it sits even worse now than when I started

Yesterday at 7am I set off for Scotland in my lovely coupe. 630 miles and 11 hours later arrived at first stop of Alness, which is 30 minutes north of Inverness. A quick stop at the jet wash got all the muck off, although it was an easy run with no hold ups. Now a week in the highlands and good weather. Tape player chewed up a tape !

I did this trip in mine a few years ago George inspired by your previous trips, I went via Loch Lomond and stopped at The Ardlui Hotel at Arrochar Loch Lomond, they do a great steak as well as a great varied menu. I hope you have a great time and good weather. I covered 1400 hundred very happy miles. Good luck 👍

I’m in the Peak District this week for some relaxation, I was planning on using the P5 but after a weekend of disappointment & frustration with it I decided to use my new 75. That was the right decision I think, it wafted down here from sunny Northumberland on less than 1/4 of a tank of that filthy diesel stuff, totally stress free, whereas I think I would have been on edge all the way with the big Rover & I think it would have spoilt my holiday

Well, I got a little bit more done this weekend. Got back from the shop the brake and clutch master cylinders along with the rear brake cylinders and a workshop manual and parts listing. Installed the master cylinders and the rear brake cylinders. Sent off the brake shoes to be relined today. Little by little, I'm making forward progress (I sure hope it forward!).

Just got back from a week in Scotland, had a lovely time and did just over 1600 miles and she went perfectly. Got as far north as Durness, but much busier than usual with staycationers and awful camper vans. I reckon that every camper van in the UK has been to Scotland this year and the infrastructure cannot cope. Actually there is no infrastructure in the Highlands and a lot of public loos have been closed as Highland Regional Council has huge debt, leading to al fresco pooing !

Interestingly, when I stopped at Tebay services in the Lake District there was a special area for Teslas to charge up. There were several there when I arrived and still there when I left, with a couple sitting in theirs waiting !
I have battery garden equipment and a battery assisted bicycle which are fantastic but it seems that cars are not there yet.

California is spending a BUNCH of $$$ on charging stations all over the state. Of course, you still have to pay for the electricity that you use!

I got it started today after several months of it being laid up! After some long turns of the key to get the fuel up it started with a few coughs and ran on 4 cylinders! So I ordered a service kit and will fit that on Saturday as I’m finally hoping to get it out of storage and painted next week

The time has come to finally step up to the ‘plate‘, no pun intended, to start to address some bodywork issues. One thing leads to another, the lid of Pandora’s has been lifted as i proceed to remove the wings!😱.........I have started!

After 10 months on the rack I took my Rover P5 out on the road today with new suspension bushes and a Volvo 164 power steering box conversion. Drives nicely, and NO leaks from the bottom seal of the box.

Removing the wings continues apace to expose those places where the galloping moth reside!😩. Inner wings, area beneath the battery box and near side door pillar, not to mention the sills. I SAID DON”T MENTION THE SILLS!!😡......All must be dealt with. Lash ups by previous owners, who have gone for quick fix of bits of filler and expanded foam!😳 Bolts often shear on removal. Particularly the rear light base mounting screws, which now require careful drilling out and re-tapping. Can anyone confirm the thread of the rear of front wing mounting bolt that screws into the underside of the door pillar? Also, the Thread on the mounting bolt of the fog lights. I assume that they are both UNF threads?

I had a spot of bother with my speedo recently, it got lazy & then went off all together. On investigation I had routed the cable badly when I had the engine & box out & my suspicion is that it had put excessive load on the angle drive & it shredded the little input cable, I had a spare one which I fitted but the speedo still didn’t work, turns out the “new” angle drive had also failed, it could have been on its way out as it was rescued from a scrap MGB box in a skip. Also i found that the nylon drive gear in the gearbox was badly worn so the search began. Today my replacement gear arrived thanks to Andy (eightofthem) I fitted it tonight & refurbished an angle drive using my speedo cable making tool, popped it all together & it works. In other news I finally got my house back today after 7 months of being homeless (well not exactly homeless😆)
