After much hard work to get the old barge running again it has now failed its MOT because of a rotten off-side sill and subframe mounting. The garage it is with at the moment say that it isn't impossible to 'make something up' but that it would just be easier to fit new sills. As a matter of curiosity to all bodyworkers out there, when you sourced new sills where did you get them from? What was the quality like? Thanks Peter

I think the ONLY sills are those from Wdhams - Saltofix did tehm in the 70/80's and perhaps before. I have pair (or whats left of them) These bear little resemblance to the originals and seem to be an oversill.
Wadhams will fit "easily" without mods and are as close to the original as you will get. Its unfortunate the ends are not included especially as its these that most get wrong as there is nothing left to copy!
You can get round fitting the entire outer sill and using carefully bent patches of flat steel but unless you are a skilled panel beater and have access to wheeling machine. joggler (to avoid but welding) and metal folder you will not get a proper job done
The inners and centers are straight forward but why bother making your own.
Glen Reeves sill strips fit these as well which is a good recommendation for both items as tehy just will not stop on if the sill is wrong shape (and/or badly fitted!)

Blimey, you would have to be pretty good to make new sills no matter what equipment you had.

I bought a brand new pair of original factory sills from a supplier in east anglia. They were £20 cheaper than JRW. Please mail me at ppdirection@btinternet.com and I'll mail you the details. They have now been fitted and they are perfect.

Were these outers and did they have the correct ends?

Yes, these are outers with the correct ends. They are genuine parts labelled accordingly.
