Not much to do with the Rover really, but might amuse you............ This evening I drained best part of a couple of gallons of ATF out of the Rovers' gearbox prior to removing it. So picture the scene. Just slid a very full washing up bowl full of ATF from under the car and left it there alongside the passenger door. It had been draining for a couple of days. I remembered I had not put the drain plug back in, so got inside to replace it (the tunnel cover is off) Replaced the plug, and on the way out lifted up a brand new clutch assembly for my Triumph, which has been in the passenger footwell. I lifted it up on my palms, being that my hands were oily.......pressure plate on my hands, and the friction disc on top. As I went to get out, the nice new friction plate slid off......you've guessed it.......straight into the bowl of oil ! Just to round things off, the resulting splash went on my trousers, on my shoes, onto the doorcard, onto the carpet, and onto the passenger seat. Why is my life always so difficult ?
