The Mk1 3 Litre was improved upon gradually through to the Mk3. The camfollowers, pushrods and crankshaft journals were upgraded (larger) from the Mk2c just after the Westlake head was fitted. The waterpump top outlet is different on the Westlake head and although I have not tried it the Westlake head will fit on early ones but the head oil drain is different. Mk1 and Mk2 autos crankshaft and camshaft are different to the manuals too.
CRs were either 7.5:1 or 8.75:1

If it helps, I recently owned a P4 95 that a PO had changed to a Weslake head.
I now have a 1963 3 litre Mk IIb. It is prior to the crankshaft modification of the Mk IIc and MkIII (crank dia at rear main seal is larger in the Mk IIc and MkIII.
The point is, it has a Weslake head from new.
