Happy New Year and happy Rovering to all members. I have just completed the annual service on my 1968 P5b and while trying to set up my carbs I am struggling to adjust my accelerator linkage. There is a small bush missing ( workshop parts catalogue page 1522 item 49 and 50 ) on my linkage. With this small bush and clip missing I have too much slack and am unable to obtain a smooth movement. Can anyone out there help me by supplying either new or half tidy bush and clip. The loss of the bush does not stop me enjoying my Rover but I know that it would be improved by this little bush replacement.

This bush also fits under the car for the handbrake rod. I had a spare in my glovebox and when I got it out to use it it crumbled to dust !

Winsinternational, East Grinstead, have them at £4.95. A "Throttle rod support bush".

It is a very poor idea and they do not last long before developing slack and upsetting kickdown etc. I used a hard nylon toilet seat wing nut with its ears cut down. Its been on 20 years and still as good as new!

A pukka engineering job would be a brass or phosphor bronze bush riveted in and reamed to fit the rod.

Phosphor Bronze is silly money Sam and probably over the top hard Brass will do, if you have an idea I will have a go at making it! I think reaming isn't necessary

Thank you all for your thought on my issue. I located the correct bush (work shop part number) at "John Craddock" the Land Rover supplier of parts. They had two only on the shelf. Bush now fitted and the throttle response is now immediate.
