To minimise any damage I'm looking for tips on removing the door cards on my P5B coupe. I need to inspect the window winding mechanism as the driver's window is extremely stiff to operate. I'm hoping it just needs a clean and lubrication or am I being far too optimistic !

Drivers side winders on a coupe are prone to failure, the Quadrant teeth fail due to the Cog Box either being rusted or lack of grease!

I have a tough plastic scraper that does the job without scratching paintwork whilst giving good leverage. Start at a corner, then slide along to each clip (by feel) in turn.

Do the door handle and winder handle have circlips holding them on and how difficult are they to locate and remove ?

If I am remembering the correct car, there is a ring at the base of the door opener that slides outwards revealing a dowel through the the handle and square rod. You also need a set of panel trim removers such as: link

Just push the ring/spring and card back and use a bent still wire to hook out the wire clip the top of which is behind the actual lever. Early P5s had a dowel

Thanks guys. Mine is a 1972 so probably no dowell. My son has a set of plastic trim removers that I can borrow.
