I bought some sills last year from a bloke in Essex ! right ugly mug he was ;D ;D ;D ;D

The horror stories are true - there are quite a few "restored" cars running round ewith them on as well. Again use SEARCH

I repaired the inner sill on one side of my saloon about 20 years ago by doing it in sections and by leaving the outer sill in place. It was a bit like decorating the hall through the letter box but by replacing the rustiest bit first I kept the structural integrity. Despite not bracing the A or B posts i had no problems with distortion. when I came to replacing the outer sills 4 years ago the inner was still so sound we left it in place an just tidied it up.

The outer sills are not actually structural although most MOT inspectors will dispute this. This is very unfortunate as often rusty outer sills ARE fitted over badly corroded inner/centre sills which are fully structural and this is wehere the stiffness comes from
