Hello All, I wonder if anyone else has experienced an exasperating problem with a P5B bonnet - the problem being it is stuck ! I changed the bonnet pin on my P5B because I didn't like the gap between the bonnet and front grille, I thought it was too big. I first tried to adjust the original pin, but it couldn't be due to being rusted solid into it's plate, the plate that bolts to the underside of the bonnet. I had a spare bonnet pin, so removed the original and bolted the replacement in position under the bonnet, taking care that it was positioned correctly etc. Unfortunately, when I closed the bonnet, it sat correctly with a much better (smaller) gap between the front edge and the grille, but now won't pop up when I pull the bonnet release ! I wish I had not bothered, and yes, I do feel like a complete twit ! I have checked, the bonnet release cable is still moving as before, but the little plate it pulls to release the pin is obviously not moving far enough to release the replacement pin. Has anybody experienced this problem before ? I'd be very grateful for any suggestions as to how to get the bonnet to release, I have tried various screw drivers and long nosed pliers, but so far with no luck, as I am trying to avoid damaging the paintwork or the front grille slats. Thanks in advance for any advice. Michael Morris

Have you tried somebody pushing/applying pressure down the up on the bonnet, whilst you pull the bonnet pull release?

The other thing to try is get a thick metal wire coat hanger and use some pliers to make a hook then feed it through the radiator to hook the catch open. Good luck Let us know how you get on.
