Hi Guys,
I need to buy a lower boot repair section, I have had issue (as have others) with some parts not being quite correct etc, you all know what I mean.
What need to know is has anyone bought a lower boot repair panel and what was it like with regards to the shaping and quality?
If anyone has some feedback please drop me and email or a pm as soon as you can, once my boot lid is finished the old dawg can for paint.
Thanks Colin

Not worth bothering is it ?
You can get a near perfect boot lid for £50 ish
Failing that, you can buy a brand new one for £250
The ONLY panels that you should expect to fit properly are genuine Rover ones. Any of the repro panels and repair sections are going to need some "adjustment". However, some are so bad that they shouldn't be sold.

The problem with GSH panels is the fit. the guy doing my car is very good and he has a boot lid that has been repaired but there are a few places where the fit is out, , my bootl lid is a perfect fit but going at the bottom. The lower edge has some funky curves, I was hoping that someone may had bought such a repair panel could advise on the shape being true to the original item or is it just cut steel.

Its the finishing and filling that is the problem over such a length. The fitting of the lock is another fiddle. It is far better to get a replacement if you can.

I agree - the repair panel is just a flat shaped piece - get a better boot lid remembering that 3 litres were different (badge holes only). No way can it be cost effective to repair one in the Uk anyway

So was that a "yes I have bought one and it is not worth it" or just a good guess?
I always like to give the suppliers benefit of doubt so would love to hear what the actual panel looks like in the flesh.

Colin I was speaking from actual experience. there is a lot of distortion and little opportunity to knock it flat. It really is a difficult job. It only goes up to the number plate curve anyway.
