I have several but they are inaccessible at the minute, I wondered if someone could check at which point in the engine number sequence did they change the pistons to the later type

No P6B as that is what the free engine is, my mate has collected it for me but I want to know if it’s worth him sending me a couple of pistons up

If it's a P5B/P6B engine then if the front face is plain it's early type pistons, if it has a groove machined in it then it's the later type. The early pistons will only be fitted to Suffix A P6B engines, and if it has a lipseal rear main (9.25:1 cr) then it's definitely late type. That last bit applies to P5B engines as well, although those late engines (Suffix D) are 10.5:1 cr. If it's definitely P6B numbers you want I'll go look. Edit. Just seen your last post. From the October 1974 parts book. Early pistons fitted up to engine numbers: 42526358C 42701244C 8.5.1 cr 43002028A

I knew you’d be the man to know Harvey🙂 it appears to be a P6 engine number & it’s stamped as 10.5:1 cr. That’s handy to know about the crank
