I've mentioned this before about 'which' car carpet to purchase for the P5 (mortlake brown). It depends on what you're trying to achieve, ie: original colour/original pile/original fit/original colour heel-mat. None of the ready-to-fit companies can make a set to that original spec. Whaddams are the closest colour wise but you'll never get the tunnel to fit without creases as they dont mill their own carpet so they cant provide the unbacked section for the tunnels, (coverdale's can provide unbacked but their colour is much lighter than the original and the tufted pile is a bit broad, nevertheless i prefer it as it matches better with the buckskin hide and the moquette and furflex.) Rover only used unbacked tufted carpet which of course they purchased by the roll and the trim shop would stitch them up after felting and welting using a cotton binding but leaving the front & back tunnels unbacked so they would easily turn round the rear tunnel contours and front console, (anyone who's done this before will know what i'm on about.) The link is a company that mill their own carpet and will mill a roll of carpet for you in any colour backed or unbacked but you will then need the services of a trimmer to stitch you up a set for your car. I've very recently had a carpet made up via JR Wadhams, I guess I'm 80% happy with it. The quality is superb, it's almost identical to the original in thickness and the edging and the fit almost perfect. The only down side I would have liked the colour closer. Mine is the red used in the 3 Litre's, the Wadhams carpet is more magenta and brighter. I know my carpet would have dullened down over the years, but comparing the new to the original carpet from under the seat that wouldn't have changed that much they aren't that close. I hope I'll get used to it as it was quite a procedure getting it made up!

Next time I get he car out I'll take a few pics. Someone reassured me that the colour would "tone down" over a year or two, I'm not sure about that, it might just be a matter of getting used to it! Time will tell.
