I am renovating my armrests as the adjustment is very stiff. After removing and dismantling I see that there are two nylon blocks that move up and down a track. On mine the tracks / blocks were covered in very old looking, viscous grease. I decided to give everything a thorough cleaning and remove all of the old grease. Without the grease the nylon blocks seem to be move much more easily and so I am wondering if the grease should be there at all or perhaps silicone spray would make more sense.
Has anyone renovated these and are there any tips and tricks?

I redid mine and left the grease off. Silicone spray is a good idea, but once adjusted I haven't changed their position since.

If you have the panels off the doors give the backs of the door locks a good squirt of spray grease and the window mechanisms
