Hi All The Restoration of my Coupe is nearing the final stages - however the Heater Valve is not playing ball: Searching the forum seems to suggest that soaking in Vinegar/Diesel/WD40 for a week is the only options ... Is there a solution to replace with a pattern part/similar thing doing the same job from a different car that has been discovered or can be recommended?

Its a standard type used on other cars of the time eg Oxfords etc with just the lever and/or outlet different.
They are easy to service. I have used the new diaphragm from these other valves and also part of the valve body. Have you checked Wadhams as he did one once that fitted straight on

Which heater valve are you looking for? The one for the front heater is plenty available:
The one for the rear is not. It is, as far as I am aware, unique to the P5B and prone to get stuck or leak or both. I just found one on eBay that is supposed to be good, but it is stuck in customs, so I can't tell yet.

Glad you found the other one on eBay.
Mine has arrived. It is moving and doesn't appear to have leaked. My rear heater is currently blocked off due to the old valve leaking and needs to be reestablished before I can check it out.

After a few days of soaking mine in vinega and other cleaning agents she works perfectly again and no leaks. Nice toasty hot heaters front and rear now on my car plus i also spent the extra monies and renewed all the rubber hoses and alloy pipes with new SS type replacement pipes from the club shop.
A very satisfying job it was and TBH i never understood as to why folk would close off the flow to the rear heaters. It makes no sense at all to have coolant sat in those pipes for years not moving and or drained off. Much better to have the whole system flowing nicely i think personally. The problems only occur due to lack of general maintanance and regular checking of all the pipes.

I would agree, and if my just acquired valve (££) ever starts leaking (I will leave it open), I will simply bypass it. Considering the design of the rear heater, I don't see much if any heat coming out of it when its electric fan is off on warm days. That ebay seller is always selling stuff for our cars on there. Mostly over priced albeit i think the price of that valve is good for something you simply cannot get anymore new.

Hi there, I hat the Same Problem with the Front Heating Push-pull-Valve. I tried eine vinegar-method, and it Works. I put ist for a week in a Plastik boxand filled ist up with eine vinigar until every unket was floated. After, I flush ist with Hotel water, Duty it and put it again in WD40 for a week. The valveis now Wirkung well without leaking. Best regards Lutz
