Well this weekend I decided to unearth the red rocket from my garage, the poor thing has been sat in there since it’s last MOT expired in 2019, also when my house flooded last February I loaded it with all my possessions & shoved it back in the garage. Last weekend I finally moved everything back into my house. Thick with dust, the poor old thing was looking like a barn find. So yesterday I popped a battery on it & took it to my workshop where it is receiving medication. After a well earned bath

It was cool a bit this morning, but it’s a Volvo, it can handle it

It always amazed me that the 240bhp 850R shared the exact same brakes as the bog standard 2.0 litre naturally aspirated models. I’ve talked about an upgrade for a long time & the simplest bolt on upgrade is to fit the larger front discs of the S & V70R (the facelifted 850 version) 302mm instead of 280. All you need, apart from the discs is a different set of caliper carriers & slightly longer brake hoses as the new caliper position puts a strain on them on full lock. So I bought the necessaries & fitted them today, I used M-Tec drilled & grooved discs with mintex pads. I’ve used M-Tec gear in the past & been very happy with the quality.

Well the rocket is ready for an mot, it’s had a full set of discs, pads & handbrake shoes, caliper carriers on the front to allow for the larger discs, a pair of rear calipers, a wishbone & droplink on the n/s/f, a bulb in the sidelight & a pair of tailgate struts to prevent any more head injuries

Mot tomorrow, I’m not remotely worried, there’s a £20 note carefully sellotaped to each driveshaft
