I have a 1972 Rover P5B that has all panel/gauge bulbs working but they are very dim even after maximising the adjuster switch.
The lights brighten a little when the engine revs increase but even then remain too dim to read displayed values easily.
The battery on the vehicle is new and has plenty of power to start the vehicle. Exterior lights working fine.
Would like to increase the display brightness to make the displayed values more easily read at night.
Any ideas/advice would be very much appreciated

Use SEARCH. The bulbs blacken and replacing them will help. The best way is to use Leds. I have had them in for years . The dimmer function for what its worth will no longer work www.classiccarleds.co.uk/collections

Very timely remarks as only this weekend I have been contemplating fitting LEDs to all my panel lights and concluded that the dimming function did not matter.

I found that when I was getting my P5 back on the road after 22 years of sitting on stands, the dash lights were very dim so I bypassed the dimmer switch and they got a lot brighter! I've often thought that a dimmer on the dash lights was a waste of effort and have never run any car with the dash light always set to bright.

3.5w were once available but too much heat will damage the plastic. Leds are actually cooler as well as brighter
