I am refitting the standard centre mounted radio panel into my P5B Coupe. It previously had a centre glovebox door fitted when I decided to hide a modern radio in the space behind it. The bottom brackets on the radio panel are fitted to the underside of the fascia frame with two 3/16 inch screws on each side but there doesn't seem to be a way of securing it to the top rail of the fascia frame. I did a trial fit yesterday and found that although the steel brackets are very solid at the bottom, even with just one of the two screws fitted on each side, the top of the radio panel can be flexed in and out at the top by a few milimeters. I think this might vibrate when the car is moving. There is a strip of old glue on the top of the aluminium trim that might have once been a strip of sticky backed foam? I'm guessing this was there to stop any rubbing. Perhaps I'm missing some parts to locate the top properly? Infortunately the Rover Parts Catalogue doesn't include the radio panel. Can anyone shed any more light on how this should be located at the top? Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

The lower bolts should have springs under them that keeps the top edge against the top of the facia. There may have been some foam strip but mine long went and no vibrations are apparent.
There is an additional facia front cover plate missing behind the dial etc

Thanks very much Phil. How easy is this to photograph or is it hidden by the under dash trip panel? A pic would be very helpful and much appreciated. I plan to make up a full width cover plate to go behind the new Radio's bezel using 2mm thick matt black Plasticard. (As ever the devil is in the detail, like my "Infortunate" typo!)

There is nothing to photograph at the top. The springs on the lower bolts keep it up tight

My car has been apart for some time and just about to put my facia trim back so have this problem too. I simply cannot see how such springs would be fitted to achieve upwards pressure, not any sign of springs with my kit of parts.

I mentioned the springs to David Green. He tells me he has removed some 150 - 200 radio panels with no sign of any springs. If any have been found it must be due to a one-off modification methinks.
