Daft question maybe? Which way does the water pump on the P5B drive the coolant, Into the top of the rad or into the bottom?

Only a guess, but probably in at the top as when the thermostat opens the rad gets hot

As water based coolant cools, it becomes more dense and sinks to the bottom. However 3-litre radiators (and 3.5 too) have transverse flow - drivers side to passenger side flow. Hot coolant leaves the engine through the thermostat.

Hot coolant leaves the engine through the thermostat. So you're saying bottom (driver's side - assuming RHD) to top as opposed to previous post?

-Coolant flows out of the stat housing into the top of the rad - down through the rad and sucked into the water pump bottom (inlet) Up through the block under pressure

Thank Phil, that's what I figured but just wanted to be 100% sure.
