Pleased to see proud Mounties, ANZACS and Ghurkhas prominently in the military processions today.

I was able to watch about the last few hours, very moving. Took me while to realize that the flowers on the hearst had been thrown from the crowds!

that tradition began at Diana Princess of Wales' funeral 25 years ago. It was a sudden shock to the Nation to lose her and i think it was the first time a "royal" hearse got close to the mourners. The windscreen of the hearse became obstructed by flowers and had to stop to get them removed and discarded, littering the highway. Imagine having to do that in the large escort situation for the Queen would have caused havoc I hope it doesn't become a "tradition" now.

One commentator on tv or commentator interviewing someone on tv [can't remember which] said the queen had said that she didn't want the flower throwing.
