Hi all. My first post having recently bought a P5B Coupe.
I'm puzzling how to connect my remote starter switch so I can turn the engine over whilst working in the engine bay. The switch instructions say connect to the starter solenoid (after removing the solenoid wire) and to battery positive. However, getting access to the starter motor entails getting under the car, so not a quick solution for a 5 minute job; presumably I can pick up the 12V from the fuse box though.
Can anyone recommend a simple connection method?
Thanks
Peter

Welcome to the forum Peter. Is there a problem with getting under the car? I'm no spring chicken and a task like that is often part of a regular maintenance check. It is a classic car and there will be a need to do it on occasion if you're a hands-on enthusiast.
As for cranking the engine remotely, all you need to do is to connect one wire to the starter solenoid and another wire to the heavy battery wire feed on the starter. Touch the two wires together momentarily and it'll crank over. Either disconnect the power feed (+) wire/s to the coil or remove the distributor cap when you're doing this as you're activating the solenoid and it may depending on the ignition wiring fire the engine momentarily.
A simpler way (and the method I use) is to disconnect the + coil feed or remove the distributor cap so you can view the rotor button and then inch the engine over momentarily with the ignition key.
I wouldn't pull power from the fuse box to activate the starter solenoid. On easily accessible starter motors most professional mechanics generally bridge the 2 contacts with a screwdriver.

Thanks for the reply.
Call me lazy but for example a quick check & adjust of dwell angle it's a bit of a faff to jack up and get under the car to connect to the starter solenoid! On my other cars (TR6 & Rover P6) i'm used to connecting the remote starter within the engine bay so expected to do it the same on the P5B.
Maybe I'll run a flying lead from the solenoid to an accessible point in the engine bay.
