The windscreen heater motor/blower on my P5b had all the puff of an asthmatic budgie when the car was last on the road 30 years ago and I want to get it working properly. I think it was 2 speed though air only came out at a trickle and I couldn't detect any change in speed.
Is there anyone who repairs these in the UK/England/near Essex or is a fix work attempting myself?

Could it be that the air passages are blocked? If the rods that move the air deflectors are out of adjustment, that could cause the air flow to be blocked. Good way to check that is to removed the flex hose from the motor to the heater core box and see if there is any flow from the motor. If the car has been sitting for a while (I think you mentioned 30 years?) critters may have gotten in and blocked up the passageways.

If it is the same motor as on the 3-litre, then it will have bronze bearings which dry up with age. It is fairly simple to dismantle (drilling out the rivets) clean and re-lubricate the bronze bearings. Mine was squealing like a pig, which was a bit of a clue.

Quite an easy job to take apart and renovate as per a simple electric motor. I recall that they are the same a s fitted to Series 2 & 3 Land Rovers.

The same motor was used in many Smiths heaters and blowers in British cars from 1950-90. I think the last real Minis used one

Thanks for all the suggestions. Once I've got the engine running I'll add that to the list of jobs before the car goes off for respray.
