I live in Australia & I have a 69 P5B Coupe, I believe I need to replace my existing electric fuel pump as it is taking around 2 minutes of turning on the ignition before the engine will attempt to fire. The existing pump is in the engine bay & is of the "Facet" Cylindrical type. I have read through a number of posts in the forum re what type should be used & have seen people have fitted "Facet" pumps of up to 6 PSI, but at the same time many have recommended pumps of 2 - 4 PSI. My question is, I want to obtain a new Facet pump, but there are massive number listed on the Facet web site, numerous are listed as suitable for "Rover". It would be great if someone could actually advise on a particular Facet model number that would be suitable. Australian Ebay have a "Bendix" pump for sale, suitable for 72 - 85 Range Rovers, 2.5 - 4 PSI. I understand Bendix were acquired by Facet many years ago. So these pumps may be very old or maybe Chinese recent copies. They are priced at $195 which looks reasonable. I think I would be more confident with a Facet product.

Hi there Scrabster...I'm a fellow Aussie and run Facet electric cube fuel pumps on all my classic car engines (x3). 2 to 3 psi is the range you want. If you have a pump running a greater pressure then fit a small pressure regulator after the pump. I run Zenith Stromberg CD carbs and the needle and seats don't like anything above 3 psi. I've purchased 4 of the pumps mentioned above and never paid over $50. They come with a small filter and fittings. They are a constant feed style pump and operate continuously on a shuttle principle so are incredibly simple both mechanically and electronically. I have one fitted on my SD1 V8 powered MG Magnette that's been in place for over 20 years without issue. They're so cheap, buy two and place the other in the glove box if you're worried about reliability. The markup on some of the other pumps on Ebay are BS for the gullible buyer. These pumps are produced in the hundreds of thousands hence their bargain price. Facet pumpThis is the Facet fuel pump fitted to my P5 Rover Coupe. There is a small Efi cannister fuel filter added to the pump exit port to ensure a very clean, filtered supply of fuel to the carbs

Thanks for that True Viking, I was hoping to just substitute the cylindrical type, ie bracket, bolts, elec connection, fuel feeds all the same then. Can you advise source in Australia for purchasing?
