Not been many pictures put up recently so I thought I would bore you all with this photo! This was the sight that greeted me when I first went to view my rover before I bought it? It had been tucked away in this garage for 16 years, the lady used the boot as a wood store, and you can see where she stored the ladders! If you check out the My Rover posting you can see how she turned out?

Neal to answer your question, yes the screen was shattered and had been for the 16 years it had sat there. If any one has had this problem before? I have a tip for them. I got the screen out, without getting any glass bits inside the car or out! I bought a pot of glue, the stuff they use in schools I think its called copydex or something? Loads of newspapers and a bowl. Ripped the paper into strips/bits mixed the glue in a bowl with some water, dunked the newspaper strips into the glue and layed them on the screen all over inside and out then let dry. I transported the car from where it was to my house and the screen stayed intact, even when it came to removing the screen it did not break. I have photo's of this because I did not think it work - but it did!

Dave, It took me 3 months to get the car 90% done for my wedding. The engine was seized, it took over a month of spraying 3in1 oil down the plug holes and gently trying to turn the engine by hand bit by bit, until one day it all moved round smoothly. „« Turning, lubricating and freeing the engine „« Engine overhaul „« Removal and replacement of the Water Pump „« Renewal of all hoses „« Renewal of all Drive Belts „« Replacement of Plugs, Points, Distributor Cap and leads etc. „« Replacement of Petrol Tank which had corroded away „« Re-coring and restoration of Radiator „« Replacement of the Windscreen and seal „« Freeing of the Brake Pads and Callipers „« Renewal of Brake lines „« Servicing of Rear Callipers and fitting of new seals „« Replacement of Front Discs and Callipers. „« Fitting new Front Brake pads „« Servicing of Master Cylinder and fitting of new seals „« Replacement of Front Suspension and Anti-roll bar bushes Replaced rear leaf springs „« Body repairs and extensive spraying „« Restoration of interior leather. „« A lot of elbow grease! And even now I have some more spraying to do. All this was done on my driveway!!! Lots of photo's taken off work done.

Thanks for the images. I didn't know that the petrol tanks could rust as they are positioned well away from any water sources.Did the tank rust from the inside out ? I admire anyone who could tackle what you have with such limited facilities. Richard

When I removed the tank There was 2 possable places it could have come from, 1 was along the seam of the tank, 2 the drain plug. As you can see from the picture top right of tank where it bolts on, seems the most likely place, judging by where the under seal had run on the underneath of the car. I had heard of petrol tanks corroding away before so I was not that surprised.

:DThese tanks can easliy corrode way from inside with water entry from a faulty filler cap seal or block drainage tube.
The seams fo rsome reason can also spring leaks
