It's very unusual to see an all black coupe. Saloons yes but not Coupes. Nice one.

thanks for all the nice comments on the car. in response to phil who wanted to know more. i bought the car in 1992 and used it daily for work for about a year befor deciding to do a rolling restoration, this turned in to it being of the road for 8 years. in this time it had new d posts, new lower a posts, new rear door skins, outer seals, one new front wing, two new rear wings front and rear screen rubbers (nice job, not). and new n/s scuttle corner. the car was black when i bought it, dont know if this was it original body colour but the roof had never been resprayed, so after all the body repairs it was resprayed balooga black. the car has some rare features to, it has a period rear map reading light and is also fitted with air con (not working at present), the smiths unit is fitted where the tool tray normaly fits and the tool tray is moved to the passenger footwell the fuel pump has been replaced with an electric pump to make room to fit the compressor. this is the only p5 i have seen with air con so would like to hear from any one who knows about it. iwll try and post some pictures of the unit soon. well thats all i can think of at the momment, again thanks for the intrest in the car. regards to all. martin

There is a guy in the village where I live(no, he is not the only Rover P5B owner in the villaaagge) who has a superb Admiralty Blue Rover P5B 1973 Saloon which has a factory fitted (I believe they were factory fitted) air condiontioning unit just like in the manuals. The only trouble is that it is stuck in his long garage at the far end and it does not see the light of day because of all the clutter at the front of the garage. I felt like making an offer on it as I honestly can't see him getting around to using it!!!

Glenn,do It,don't think to much about, It just do It.I feel frustrated for you not having been able to take your own one out.I took a member out In mine who Is In the same situation as you,his has been garaged for 25 years awaiting time to restore, and the enjoyment he got from that one journey has motivated him to think about starting his own restoration. Martin: Do these air filters make a difference to the running or mpg-love the car by the way,It's really special.

Can't afford it mate. Wife, two kids, dog. I will ask him for first refusal though but I know he will be after 5-6 K but I might work my old magic on him, or send the boys around to persuade him!Glenn"Knuckles"Reeve

in response to guitardave, no the the air filters dont seem to make a dffrence to the mpg. all that happend when fitted was the tickover seemed to increase so not relly a problem. but it does render the rear engine breather dorment. regards. martin

My A/C in-car unit is made by Smiths, but is different to the one you have. I wll take some pictures at the weekend of the unit and try to post it on here for comparison. I have not yet installed it into the car, so it is very easy to photograph.
Cheers Adrian

That would be good maybe under a new thread so searching will be easier. I to am researching the air con will probably fit new. But more interested in compressor mounting solutions and condensor fitting at present. some shots of where the compressor sits and its belts and bracket would be good.
