For those who didn't make the national, here is my modded P5B coupe. 4.6 overfinch, 4 speed ZF auto, BWM 3 series rack and pinion and an LPG kit. Ian

Very nice - did you fit the ZF box? This a converter lockup like the old DG boxes used on Mk1 and Mk2's ZF made a lot of it the time even though it had first appeared in the mid 1950's!

I'll sort some interior shots over the weekend, its totally standard inside. just the way I like them although I do prefer the thinner seats. The box was installed by the previous owner, along with the wheels...which are growing on me. Ian

Lovely looking car - I really go for the Merc wheels too. Big and beefy just like the car itself.

I did see it at the National, and thought what a lovely car it was. I must agree about the wheels they certainly go with the car. Just shows what it would be like had the model still been in production.

Ian, your car looks fantastic....!!!! I'd love to pick your brain a bit if possible. I'm looking at putting a ZF 4 speed auto in my P5B and would welcome any wisdom from those who have done so before me. I've also toyed with the idea of rack and pinion steering. Was that an easy modification?

I think this car has a mechanical problem, it can drive from Worthing to Oxford no problem but can't make it the 3 miles along the road to the local rover meet. I suggest you get it fixed asap Ian ...LOL

Sorry for the slow response, i totally missed your post.
The work was done by the previous owner. The ZF box required a custom propshaft, Recoprop (I think) in Luton supplied that. The manual rack is BMW 3 series, and looks a bit more invlolved. I can take some pictures if you like?

Ian,
I was trying to ignore the wheels because they are not standard. But I can't they're great!
Can you tell us some more about the MB wheels and tyres?
Cheers,
Peter

Sorry for the slow response. They are standard Merc wheels...not sure what model. The hubs have been redrilled to 5x112, so any Merc wheel will fit, and plenty of American wheels as well.
To be honest, I didn't much like the wheels to start with, but they are growing on me.
I think I need something a little more retro.
