How long have we barred guests from viewing this site?. Seems to be access only to registered members now.
(Note has been posted on old chatborad by someone)

Weird. I had John Wallet leave me a message on the 28th February and he was a guest under the sill trims heading. So no problems uo to that date

Well fellas you are both right. Before Proboards automatically updated this site I had the option of allowing Guests access but they could not post. The new update has removed that option so Guests have unfortunately to log on to view the pages. If I remove this 'block' it means anyone can leave any sort of message safe in the knowledge nothing can be done to stop them. I know it's a little inconvenient, but I feel we have little option. David, I have no problem with this at all. Sounds much 'safer' to me.

I notice there has been an upsurge in new members over the last few days, no doubt due to the recent change. Whilst I have reservations as to whether this site should be available to non RP5C members, although paid for by these members I cannot see why it should not be clear as to who are and who are not members as more often than not aliases are used and very often no e-mail or much other detail is given either. This is not really much use to anyone and what have they to hide?

I agree. There is nothing wrong with some transparency and I always wonder why people won't add their e mail address??? And some even won't say whether they are male/female even though there name is say, Derek! I once went on another P5 site and some of their members websites were porn sites! This site I feel is moderated to a high standard and that has to be applauded. I have noticed that a member seems to be joining every other day at least.

I agree. It is too easy on most sites for that tiny minority of idiots to mess it up for the rest of us who want to use it properly. There can be no reason not to register if you are genuinely interested and want to learn from and participate in this forum.

This site I feel is moderated to a high standard ;) There is a difference between moderation and censorship.

There is a difference between moderation and censorship. You are quite right 'noneofyourbusiness'. And your point is??? Are you suggesting that requiring contributors to register is some form of censorship? Or have I missed something? Keith
