In November 2006 I bought a P5B ---XYW 188--- advertised in the motoring press .When I viewed the car,I specifically wanted a restoration project, the owner explained that though there was several months MOT there was a certain amount of filler in the car.He also said that it was a Vanden Plas .After 14 months of hard work ,over 400 hrs and many thousands of pounds later I have almost completed the restoration.Putting it on EBAY, as a pre sales excercise brought a few comments, which I strangely am pleased about .It has been pointed out to me that this was not a genuine Vanden Plas ,but had been badged up .Though it was a let down.I can advertise the car now as a P5B not VP which helps me ,as I would not wish to mislead any one.I would like to thank those people who have contacted me over this .The car was far worse than I thought ,but at least I know that I have brought it back to how it should be .Since it is a retirement hobby where I always try to restore to as near perfect as I can ,it has therefore given me a great deal of satisfaction, but also proves the point do not believe all you are told .

Welcome anyway - your car has been talked about before and even today! Its a pity that the V-P additions cannot be verified but it does look like you have saved another P5 from the scrap yard and restored it to a high standard as well. I hope you can get a good price for your efforts - these cars are always worse than they first appear If you want to read about it use SEARCH set to 500 days and there are more than one threads Its new owner may find it to be a talking point!
