Doing some pre checks to prepare for a service this weekend I noticed that the auto transmission fluid level is a little high checked when hot after a good run. How serious is this? Is the easiest way to remove a small amount of oil via the drain plug then top up to correct level? How hard is it to remove a small amount of oil like this with out removing it all? I can only presume panel beater has over filled after losing some when changing radiator as it was definitely correct after last service when auto oil was changed after gearbox rebuild and car leaks no fluids and requires no topping up between services every 3000 miles.

;)Depends how nimble you are in unscrewing the darin plug and getting it back in whilst ATF is running down your arm!
Yes - I have done this with both sump oil and ATF.
Overfilling can be as bad or even worse than underfilling as it causes foaming and can also damage seals
