Whenever I have needed Air filters I have just walked in just about anywhere and bought them. Today just to be sure I phoned first We have 3 nation wide parts groups that between them cover 6 chains 3 wholesale & 3 retail none could supply from any branch open on a Saturday and all had very low stocks at the warehouse 2/4/0 respectively. I had to order for Monday pick up so was not able to complete this part of service tune. Why? Has a car that used these filters gone out of production? Are they going to be a problem in the future? Are they difficult to buy in the UK? What other more modern car uses the same unit? The p6b filters are round where as these are oval will if need be a P6 air cleaner canister fit on a p5b. Should I buy all 6 now to stop problems in future?

I would buy all six now - I do not think they are difficult to get in the UK - YET (but look at Kumo's) the sames ones are used on LDV Sherpa vans apparently. Six will keep you going for many years
No doubt there are people out there who know this and what others will fit - no doubt something could be adapted anyway or fit the separate types

Allan
Any Land Rover dealer or parts specialist wil be able to supply. Ask for part number 605191. No problem with supply here, cost about £2.50 each. They fit any early carburettored Range Rover, and V8 90s and 110s.
I guess this is one of the penalties with living in a third world country ? hee hee hee.l

And I thought it was a penalty of running a car from company soon to be based in a third world country. hee hee hee!!!.
Try to stay away from rover or range rover dealerships as over here they are 2 to 3 times the price of anybody else for the same bit. so had not even tried them yet. Stuck with the aftermarket parts groups as they are clients and up till now have always been able to supply off the shelf. Will ask if it is just a temporary situation, who knows with just in time stock holdings nowadays they could be on the water or the docks as we speak. I am sure you are right the rover dealerships probably have ex-stock. Just never needed to go there before.

I recently bought two air filters from two different factors - as each only had one in stock. I finished up with one Fram CA641PL and one Mann C1530. Both of these are round when in the box but are easily squeezed to the correct sized oval shape when fitting, and fit inside the casing perfectly. Have I misread something? Are you suggesting Allan, that the proper filters are supplied in the correctly formed oval? Maybe I am using the wrong ones Keith

the filters I have always used are oval straight out of the box I have just walked in and asked for 2 p5b air filters the parts book usually list the car as a rover 67-73 3500 the filters you have sound like a p6b filter rover 68 -76? 3.5 lt But good to know the p6 ones can be made to fit

A while back I bought seventeen of them, all are round when taken out of their boxes but fit perfectly.
