This thread is spun of another thread "leaking gearbox".
The reason being that I have to realize that the BW35 on my '70 coupe is reaching the end of ifs lifetime. As I know it will eventually give up on me on the worst thinkable time, I will try to have a usable or reconditioned box ready to do a fast swap. However there were so few of these cars imported to Denmark, so it will be impossible to find a good P5B box locally. Therefore I though if anyone have used a BW35 from a P6, and can tell if this will fit directly or (if not) what is needed to make it fit. The P6's had a BW35 (7FU) or a BW65 so if anyone has experiences in using eigther of these..... I know from experiences in engine swaps in newer jap cars that even differences from year to year can give a lot of problems that is first realized when the engine was halfway down in the enginebay. Here it is still possible to find P6B's for scrap at a reasonable prize here.

You might try the same question on a P6 Forum although not many parts other than the V8 engine and some minor trimmings are interchangeable

Thanks Phil !
So there is a P6 forum ?? Du you happen to have the URL handy ?
BTW Phil, when we met last summer, you showed me that you had installed a electrical fuelpump. I bought one from JRW, to avoid problems with the original one. Where in the enginebay did you mount the pump-body ? I would like to avoid making holes and reuse some existing bolts if possible and still avoid overheating etc.

AT the front low down - two 6mm holes only - do search on the old forum as there were loads of comments. As to P6 forums try the Rover P6 Owners Club - I thinks there are two one is www.p6club.com. P6's are very very common in the UK in classic car terms

Thanks for the updates. I have not yet been at the P6 forum, but I will find the time eventually.
However I have a rep.book for P6 and it says that (page 44.00.00, sheet 6 in case some of you have it) that there are 4 series of p6 autoboxes :
3FU (early P6), 7FU (as the one on my P5B), 9FU (QUOTE : "introduced on 3500S export. Later a commisioned version was introdued for 3500, 3500S and 3½ litre models") and finally 267 ( QUOTE : "introduces a number of features to facilitate interhangeability between 3500 and 3½ lire models. All previous boxes and converters that are returned to B&W for reconditioning will be build to 267-specs commencing at serial no 04 35 000 387") I don't understand this completely but it seems that Rover did unify the boxes and I will therefore consider it doubtful as to a P6 7FU box will be the same as a P5B 7FU box. If so then the comment about 267 makes no sense. And it seems that if one can find a BW-reconditioned labelled 267, seial > 04 35 000 387, it will fit !!
Have anyone any comments on this ??

I have now bougth a secondhand P6B box , serial no. 303 xxxxxx. The box was rebuild some 3000 miles ago, but the car had now being rejected at MoT, so scrapped. I have a feeling that the box will fit if including converter and cable. All measuremens seems ok, but I will only install it if my current box contiues to leak or develops further mal-functions. To have a god box on the floor is assumingly the best protection against problems in the current box, according to Murphy's Laws.

I am 99% certain it will fit - the only issue being whether yours has the long kickdown cable with the bracket on the LHS carb or the later short one with the bracket on teh back of the LH cylinder head.
The 303 box was supposed to represent the pinnacle of the BW35 development and self adjusting (meanind non adjutable) bands
