Any advice on the steering box kits from JRW? The box is out but what is involved in overhauling the box? or should I look to buy from him an overhauled unit?

I know its expensive but I would have one of Wadhams boxes as they are properly done. Seal kits do not seem to be very successful unless you know waht you are doing as regards checking all the other bits

I also would recommend JRW boxes; they have improved seals. Mine has been fine for getting on for ten years now.

I would do it myself with an improved seal kit from JRW. However, before I bought the kit, I would strip it all down, clean it and check for scoring etc first.
If somethings wrong, and you dont have a spare box to cannibalise, I would only then exchange it.
I enjoy doing such things anyway, and besides, I am not as affluent (or is that effluent ?) and you chaps.

As I understand it, the JRW boxes have extra groove(s) and seal(s) which reduces the likelihood of leaks. Does anyone know precisely what has been done to the boxes?

I have heard of the possibility of replacing the orginal with a Volvo box. Anyone know any details about this?
