My recently acquired P5B Coupe (1969 which appeared on page 10 of the April "TAKE 5" to my pleasant surprise ) has two choke controls in the cabin. They are (or more correctly were until one of them snapped yesterday and I was left with the knob and a short metal stalk in my hand) connected one to each carburretor. Is this an owner modification or is it correct. I have been told that there should just be one knob which should split in the engine compartment to give two leads one for each carb. I appreciate that this is a basic question and I guess it is pretty academic because I will probably just get the snapped cable fixed but I would like to know what it should really be like. (If there should only be one choke knob should there be something else where the extra one is?) Thanks in advance for any help given.

The car would have had the Automatic Enrichment Device as standard - this was a disaster and Rover and others offered a conversion back to the old set up with separate T handle Cold Start.
Yours has obviously been bodged - Wadhams sells the right bits

As regards the spare hole earlier cars had the Fuel Reserve T handle in it whlist AED cars had just a one hole bracket similar to the bonnet pull one.
The single choke cable should go into a standard junction (often used for motor cycles) clipped to the air filter inlet
Wadhams version is the correct T handle as opposed to the cheaper standard round choke knob

Thanks again for the further comments and advice. The bracket I have will have a one hole too many. I have the correct T handles for fuel reserrve tank and bonnet pull. I have ordered the Wadhams kit having decided that I might as well try and put it right. Cheers, John

The spare hole is handy to put in a Hazard warning switch

Now that leads on to another problem for another thread..indicators which go on but only one blinks at all and that is when the engine is revving reasonably. From what I have seen on the electrics thread I guess I have an earth problem somewhere but I haven't the faintest idea where!

Could be any or all of the indicators! The front ones are the worse. Clean up all bulbholdes and Bullet connectors. It does sound like an earth problem
