:just a quick word of warning to anyone with a metal brake fluid can. the brake warning light on my p5b was on all the time from the time i bought it i checked the level which was ok so looked at the bible for answers could be the hand brake linkage it said. well ok then put it on the list to do, until one nice sunny day while plodding down the road time to slow a bit for a crossing, but alas no brakes. investigation found no fluid in the res so where has it gone no leaks anywhere servo sounded favourite but a quick lift of the carpet found many years of slow seapage from the mastercyl a full stripdown followed and when in rome thought i would give the fluid can a lick of paint to so off it came and to my supprise found the answer to my warning light at the bottom of the can was what looked like gooey sand what the!! further stripdown revaeled the aluminium tube holding the cork float had rotted to bits thus jamming the float in the empty position and telling me to top it up. the mass of goo left by this action then found its way into the brake system and slowly eroded any rubber seal in touched needless to say that to do list just got longer

The metal cans can also rust out also losing fluid - far better to put the later plastic type on as the switch is more reliable too and the level can be readily seen anyway
