I have the opportunity to purchase a Rover V8 engine that has been completely restored (rebored, new pistons, heads and crankshaft reground with new bearings, pistons etc.). But this engine was originally fitted to a P6 (not sure what year) with a manual gearbox.
Will this fit without trouble in my P5B V8 1970 - engine mounts, manifold exhaust connections, wiring connections, and bell housing having an autobox etc?
Dennis.

All the parts will be interchangeable, you will need to swap the manual spigot bush for an auto one, and the oil filter housing is different but doesn't need to be changed. make sure you use the P5B engine mounting rubbers. I've fitted P6B engines to P5b and vice versa with no problems at all.

I forgot to mention that the engine has had fitted a Piper 285 Fast Road Cam. Does that mean anything?

When putting a V8 P6B engine with a manual 5 Speed box in a P5B with BW Autobox, will the engine bolt up to the autobox OK? What would I have to do to the flywheel? Are there any potential problems with this conversion?
