It was always my ambition to own a P5b and after ownership of other earlier classic Rovers I fulfilled my ambition and bought a Coupe. I have now owned it for several years and still think it is a stunning looking car and pleasing to the eye from almost every angle. BUT if I am honest the drive doesn’t live up to the looks. The ride is harsher than I would have expected, the wind and engine noise level is dissapointing and the steering is over light. - Don’t get me wrong I am not slating these super cars but I would be interested to know if owners of the non V8 cars experience a better ride with the heavier straight six up front.

Undoubtedly they do give a far better smoother ride with more responsive steering and only a little slower!
I have both but enjoy driving either as they are so different
If there is wind noise the door seals and/or hinge/lock adjustment require attention

Interesting - to be honest the wind noise is only annoying at motorway speeds and is improved with windows shut. - interesting to know if saIoons fair better with the different angled screen. think the front end lightness is what really lets them down, so I guess the 3 litre would have been the better choice - it was the glamour of having a V8!!

I doubt that the saloons fare any better than coupes with regard to wind noise. Most wind noise is created by the door seals and the quarter light seals. It's a shame that theses seals are not readily available, as they do perish and harden over a period of time.
I totally agree with Phil on the ride difference, the 3 litre is much more smoother than the 3.5 V8 due to the extra weight, and the steering is not featherlight and vague.
Both though are enjoyable to drive.
