:( My P5B saloon developed a bad leak from the steering box in 2005 I bought a new pump and recon box in July 2005, from Roverpart. This was OK for a while then developed the same problem. Heavy leak. Roverpart sent a replacement FOC, but this is also leaking. They have offered to replace, but I will need to pay his expences, which is acceptable. How can I be sure it won't happen again? This time the leak is coming from the breath hole at the front Is their a modification, or any fitting advice? I see that this type of problem has been aired before. Can you help? Please

All I can say is that I bought mine from Wadhams as have many others and I have never heard of a problem with their recon units. Maybe the RoverPart boxes are reconditioned differently. Very sorry to hear of your problems.

I have heard of this with other sourced recon boxes but not with any from Wadhams. Bad luck

Is it possible that the pump is creating too much pressure, I have no idea if this can happen, but if you are on a 3rd box that is leaking it could indicate that there is a problem elsewhere. I have dealt with Roverpart for many years and usually their parts are good.

As mentioned on another thread recently its always a good idea to change the pump - the pressure valve is well known for failing and can actually split the steering box casings under high pressure situations on full lock standing if it sticks closed instead of open

I replaced the pump and box as advised by this site (cheers Phil) and have no problems. Sure it cost me, but peace of mind prevails and no leaks!!!!
