When i brake, the front pulls to the left slightly yet when releasing pedal, it veers to the right. If i jack the front, the wheels seem free. Would this sound like a classic case of the hoses being blocked? I am renewing them anyway as they are getting old.

Everything wants checking Humphrey. Looks as if the RH calliper isn't working as well as the LH, but it could be hoses or the rear drums. I would go thru' the lot starting at RH calliper.

Spot on, absolutely spot on. Siezed piston in O/S/F caliper is 2/1 on!

I just changed the hoses and did a road test. The brakes are now normal. One of them was blocked as I suspected. I thought it was not the pistons as i have had that happen before and you could tell as they would stick on and overheat.

You missed the significance of the fact that it veered on RELEASE of the pedal. The blocked pipe was on the right ,meaning that release was delayed.
