I was changing the oil on my 1972 P5B saloon today, when I noticed that the bottom of the flexible drive plate, along with the starter ring was visible. On checking the workshop manual, along with a visible check on my coupe, it seems that the front cover plate is missing. I had some engine work done about a year ago, and am wondering if that's when it disappeared. Unfortunately the chap who did the work no longer appears to be in business and is not contactable. Would anyone know if any damage is likely to have been done (e.g. by dirt and water ingress), and is it a major job to fit a cover plate, assuming I can find one?
Many thanks, and hope to see some of you at the technical day at Gaydon.
Paul

Worst thing that could happen is a stone (or some other object) being thrown up and jamming in where it shouldn't. The cover plate should be easy to get and even easier to fit! It is a job that should be done.

Its best to check that the plastic bell housing air vents have also been left off - unless its one of the later types without them
